There is no universal best todo app. The right choice depends on your devices, whether you work alone, how you feel about accounts and subscriptions, and how much structure you want.

Choose Argon if
You want a personal, keyboard-first workspace that starts without an account, works locally and combines todos, projects, deadlines and calendar context. Argon is strongest today on the web and macOS.
Choose Things if
You use Apple devices, value a mature native experience and prefer separate one-time app purchases. Things has no web, Windows, Linux or Android app, and no shared-list collaboration.
Choose Todoist if
You need the broadest platform coverage, shared team workspaces or a large integration ecosystem. Expect an account-based service with free and subscription tiers.
Choose Apple Reminders if
You want the built-in Apple option, Siri capture, location reminders and shared lists without installing another app. It is best inside the Apple and iCloud ecosystem.

“Offline” means you can view and change previously available tasks without a current connection. Initial setup and syncing still need internet for every cloud service.

Closer look
Argon
Makes the local workspace the default. It separates dates from deadlines, brings events into the same planning surface and offers deeper keyboard customization than the built-in Apple option. Its current weaknesses are platform coverage, collaboration and ecosystem size.
Things 3
The established choice for individual Apple users who want a refined native app. It works offline and sync is included after buying the relevant apps. There is no browser experience, non-Apple client or real-time list sharing.
Todoist
Reaches nearly every mainstream platform and supports both individual and team workflows. Its offline mode syncs changes when you reconnect, but the service is account-based and its fuller capacity and team features sit in subscription plans.
Apple Reminders
Covers more than simple alerts: it has tags, Smart Lists, subtasks, location alerts, shared lists and Siri capture. It is hard to beat for Apple convenience, but it is less suited to people who want a keyboard-led project workspace across non-Apple platforms.
